Edit PiafHush-hush tech-house rework imprint Edit Piaf (we chuckled, at least) returns with two more sneaky reworks from its' top-secret team of reportedly well-known producers. On the A-side, they take their virtual scalpel to what sounds like a disco-sampling soul record, wrapping cut-up vocal snippets, elongated jazz-funk synth solos, funky bass and tumbling guitar sounds around a chunky and effortlessly funky tech-house groove. They opt for a more heavily electronic sound on the hypnotic and bubbly flipside revision, with whispered, bi-lingual vocal samples catching the ear. It's nowhere near as impactful as the A-side, but the groove is good and the heat-aching piano solo that appears midway through is thoroughly delicious.
